Does Your DSO Have an Appreciation Day Where They Celebrate YOU as an Associate?

At Dentist Job Connect, we spend a lot of time talking with associate dentists about what they are looking for in their next position. Compensation, clinical opportunities, mentorship, practice culture, and long-term growth are all important parts of that conversation.

That is one reason we value opportunities to experience dental organizations firsthand. Job listings can provide useful information, but spending time with a team offers a different perspective on how an organization supports its doctors.

Recently, members of the Dentist Job Connect team had the opportunity to attend Rodeo Dental & Orthodontics’ Annual Summit. We have partnered with Rodeo Dental for several years, helping their recruiting team connect with associate dentists, so it was especially valuable to see their team and culture in person.

Bringing Associates Together

The event brought together Rodeo Dental associates and leadership for a combination of education, connection, and appreciation.

For Morgan Rake (Sales Executive), who works closely with owners and associate dentists through Dentist Job Connect, one of the most notable parts of the experience was simply seeing so many doctors and team members in the same place.

“When was the last time your entire team got together to learn, connect, and celebrate?”

For a growing dental organization, creating those opportunities can be an important part of maintaining connections across offices. Rodeo Dental has more than 51+ locations across Texas, Colorado, and Arizona, so bringing doctors together also gives associates an opportunity to build relationships beyond their individual practice.

Opportunities for Clinical and Professional Growth

Another theme that came through during the event was the organization's focus on continued development. For associates, joining a larger dental organization can provide access to resources, continuing education, and other doctors with different areas of experience. Rodeo's model emphasizes opportunities for doctors to continue developing their clinical skills while also learning from colleagues throughout the organization.

The environment also encourages associates to contribute ideas and participate in conversations about the organization. Rather than viewing associates solely as clinicians working within an established system, Rodeo places an emphasis on developing doctors who can contribute to the growth of their practices and the broader organization.

For a dentist evaluating a potential employer, these are useful areas to ask about during the interview process.

  • What does continuing education look like?
  • How do associates receive clinical support?
  • Are doctors encouraged to share ideas?
  • What opportunities exist for professional development beyond day-to-day patient care?

These questions can help an associate job seeker understand whether an opportunity aligns with their goals.

A Large Organization With Local Practice Relationships

Rodeo Dental's size is another important part of the associate experience.

With 51+ offices, associates are part of a larger network while still working within an individual practice and community. That can provide access to a broader group of doctors and resources while allowing associates to develop relationships with the team at their own location. For dentists considering a larger organization, understanding that balance is worth exploring. Two practices within the same organization can have different teams, patient populations, leadership styles, and day-to-day experiences.

As with any dental opportunity, getting to know the specific office and team is an important part of determining whether a position is the right fit.

Seeing the Impact of a Job Connection

One of the most meaningful parts of the weekend for our team was meeting associates who had originally connected with Rodeo Dental through Dentist Job Connect.

We often interact with dentists while they are searching for opportunities, helping them navigate listings and make connections with practices. Seeing those same doctors after they have joined a team provides a different perspective on that process.

It was rewarding to hear about their experiences and see how they had become part of the Rodeo Dental organization. That experience also reinforced something we see regularly in our work: a successful job search is about more than getting an offer. The goal is to find an opportunity where the dentist and practice can both see a long-term fit.

Why Firsthand Experience Matters

At Dentist Job Connect, we work with both sides of the associate hiring process. We help practices connect with associate dentists, and we help job seekers learn about opportunities that may align with their professional goals. Being able to attend events like Rodeo Dental's Annual Summit gives us additional context when we talk with dentists about these opportunities. We can learn more about the people behind the organization and better understand what the associate experience looks like beyond a job description.

We appreciate the Rodeo Dental team for welcoming us to the summit and allowing our team to experience the organization firsthand.

For job seekers, learning about a potential employer is an important part of the search process. If you're interested in learning more about Rodeo Dental, their team, and current associate opportunities, you can explore their open positions through Dentist Job Connect.
