The Power of the Right Talent: How Edge Elevates Dental Practices
At Dentist Job Connect, we often talk about the importance of long-term thinking in dentistry, whether that applies to hiring, leadership, or practice growth. Strong teams are built intentionally, and the people behind them matter.
We initially hired Duaa through Edge to support our founder Dr. Paul Goodman’s practice remotely. Over time, her role evolved, and she ultimately joined our team at Dentist Job Connect — a reflection of her exceptional growth and the value she consistently brought to the organizations she served. Edge is a remote staffing and workforce support company that helps U.S. dental and healthcare practices hire, train, and integrate high-quality international team members. Through structured screening, onboarding, and ongoing support, Edge focuses on long-term placement success rather than transactional staffing. Edge is also a sponsor of Dentist Job Connect, and we work closely with them to help practices build strong, well-supported teams.
Duaa, now a Project Coordinator at Dentist Job Connect, embodies the kind of thoughtful growth, adaptability, and intentional development that supports dental practices in meaningful ways.
A dual foundation: dentistry and strategy
Duaa began working at the age of 13 in content creation and marketing. Over time, she developed into a freelance brand manager and brand strategist, gaining experience in messaging, positioning, and business development.
In 2016, she entered dental school and graduated in 2019. Throughout her clinical education, she continued working in strategy and marketing roles. This combination, formal dental training alongside real-world business and branding experience, gave her a broad understanding of both patient care and practice operations.
That dual perspective would later become highly relevant in her work supporting U.S. dental practices through Edge.
Entering the workforce during COVID-19
After graduating, Duaa began working in a hospital in Pakistan. Shortly thereafter, the COVID-19 pandemic significantly disrupted clinical operations worldwide. Many healthcare professionals faced uncertainty as systems temporarily shut down or scaled back.
In June 2021, Duaa joined Edge, becoming the first dentist placed through their platform. Edge’s screening process, training in U.S. healthcare systems, and structured onboarding model allowed her to transition into a role supporting a U.S. based practice with clarity and confidence.
This training component is particularly important for international professionals. Understanding insurance systems, patient communication expectations, and workflow standards within U.S. dentistry requires preparation. Structured onboarding helps ensure that placements are not only technically qualified but operationally ready.
Supporting practice growth
Duaa’s first placement was with our founder, Dr. Paul Goodman’s practice, Pennington Dental Associates. Her initial focus was patient communication, specifically reaching out to implant patients who had already expressed interest in treatment.
Her responsibilities included:
- Contacting and nurturing implant leads
- Guiding patients through next steps in treatment
- Following up post-visit to gather feedback and reviews
- Supporting continuity of care through consistent communication
These responsibilities may seem administrative on the surface, but they directly influence case acceptance, patient experience, and practice growth. Effective follow-up systems are often one of the most overlooked drivers of production and reputation management.
Over approximately nine to ten months, Duaa became integrated into practice operations and contributed to strengthening communication systems that supported both patients and providers.
Contributing to Dentist Job Connect’s growth
As her role evolved, Duaa began assisting with research and data collection, identifying dental practices, compiling contact information, and organizing lead sources to support recruiting efforts.
She later stepped into a project coordination role, helping build workflows and systems. Most notably, she contributed to developing the associate dentist job seeker function within Dentist Job Connect from the ground up. This included:
- Building structured processes for candidate intake
- Supporting implementation of SOPs
- Helping shape internal systems that guide job seekers through the platform
Being part of an organization in its early stages requires flexibility and a willingness to build before systems are fully defined. Duaa has been part of that foundational growth, contributing to the infrastructure that now supports dentists and students navigating important career decisions.
The value of structured talent development
Duaa’s experience also reflects the importance of proper screening and support in remote staffing models.
According to her, Edge emphasizes:
- Pre-interview screening to ensure alignment
- Training in U.S. healthcare workflows
- Ongoing support after placement
- A success network focused on long-term fit
While Duaa entered with both a dental degree and business experience, she observed that many team members without that background received additional guidance to ensure they could effectively support U.S. practices. That investment in preparation reduces friction for the practice and increases the likelihood of a successful long-term placement.
For dental practices considering remote team members, structured training and ongoing oversight are critical differentiators between transactional staffing and strategic support.
A team-oriented culture
Beyond operational contributions, Duaa has remained part of Dentist Job Connect’s core team culture. She has seen the organization grow from its early days and has been supported not only professionally but personally through significant life milestones. Strong professional communities are built on more than productivity. They require mutual respect, shared purpose, and consistent communication: values that are particularly important in a field where career decisions carry long-term consequences.
Duaa’s journey illustrates several important principles relevant to today’s dental professionals:
- Diverse skill sets can strengthen practice operations.
- Structured onboarding and training matter in remote staffing.
- Follow-up systems meaningfully impact patient experience and case acceptance.
- Building strong hiring platforms requires thoughtful processes behind the scenes.
As the dental industry continues to evolve, steady, well-supported talent will remain one of the most valuable assets a practice can invest in. Stories like Duaa’s highlight how intentional placement, training, and team development contribute to sustainable growth.
